- Carina Sharp
Principal Dentist
BDS- MJDF – Dipl (Implantology)
Since being 10 years old, I have dreamed of being a dentist . When my Mum took me to the dentist, I knew it was a career that combined a love of science, working with my hands, artistry, and working with people.
In 1992, I moved from Felixstowe in Suffolk to Liverpool to study dentistry. Five years later I qualified and started my career in dentistry in North Wales. I then went on to work in various clinics in Chester, Northwich, and Wales before settling on the Wirral, where in 2010, I was lucky enough to buy Maycroft.
My passion has always been to help people and get great long-lasting results. Since the day my mother took me to the dentist and stressed to me how important our teeth are. It is only through years and years of extra studying that I have truly discovered the wisdom of these words.
One of the things I have noticed is, how much confidence having a healthy smile can give patients – whether it is the ability to eat without fear or pain, or the ability to smile without covering our mouths. It saddens me greatly if I ever hear of people having to resort to these measures.
I like to have a laugh and a joke, with my patients to try and ease the stress that can be felt when attending a dental practice. We really go with you, through your experience, and try our best to put people at ease. No one said it is easy, but with perseverance, support and kindness we hope to be able to achieve a long-lasting result, that we are all proud of.
I have spent many years studying further post-graduate qualifications, including a Diploma in Implant Dentistry, and a Certificate in the same, which enables me to have greater insight into the planning and implementing implant treatments.
My main passion is the diagnosis of all conditions relating to the mouth. I enjoy the challenge of discovering the ‘root’ (pun intended) of the problem, and then planning and implementing a full course of treatment, which is planned to enable the greatest longevity.
I am thrilled and delighted to own Maycroft, and it is a privilege to have such wonderful patients to look after.
I would also like to thank my staff who support me, our other clinicians and our patients very ably.
